Discover Gura Trail: A Riverine Adventure in Aberdares!
Embark on an enchanting journey along the Gura Trail, immersing yourself in the lush riverine landscapes of the Aberdares.
Trail Overview:
The Gura Trail begins at the Gura Forest office, where the mighty Gura River, a mere 30 meters away, sets the stage with its thunderous flow, on its way to join the Tana River.
Trail Highlights:
Follow the footsteps of elephants as you traverse a 13 km riverine walk. The Gura River bifurcates into Gura 1 and 2, with Gura 2 presenting the only steep and treacherous section. Despite the challenges, the call of the falls propels you forward. False thunder from smaller cascades encourages you, leading to the breathtaking moment when the majestic waterfall unveils itself. At this point, everything dissolves, leaving only a smile as you effortlessly open your arms to embrace the natural spectacle.
A viewing platform offers a distant perspective, while the more adventurous can venture closer for an unparalleled experience. After soaking in the beauty, descend by crossing the river multiple times – be prepared to get wet or opt for gumboots.
