Mt. Kinangop Njabini – Tulaga Traverse

We head to the Second Highest peak of the Aberdares, this time in style and in a real deal, pushing the limits.
This is a one-day challenge test of mind over matter. Are you up to the challenge? Come refine your spirit, the flow. Come experience the spirit of the mountain redefined. We start at Njabini Forest Gate and exit through Tulaga Trail, through the Elephant trail in the cool and enchanting bamboo forest exiting the forest at point Despair.
We continue our quest through the transition from the rainforest to the moorland through this part of forest covered in light green soft moss, it’s fun to touch and feel. It’s a steep ascent sometimes you may miss seeing this beauty..we push on the collar bone of the elephant and from there for the first time since despair we can see the elephant hill peak..
Team Elephant Hill will head to the peak if we so wish and take in the views and the breeze soon we drop back to the neck and drop into the valley. The path down is a steep descent as we branch out slightly above eye level we can see the twin peaks of Kinangop depicting a gate covered in mist..it’s a sight to die for.
We continue heading for the peak, it relatively gentle trek through the moorland, with a steep last section announcing the start of our summit push. it will take about three hours to this peak.
We high five each other and enjoy the scenic Aberdares its code in front of your eyes at 360 degrees.. as far as Mt. Kenya behind from where you have come is the magnificent elephant hill.. from this point Aberdares is a hikers eye candy.. you cannot get enough. This trail is beautiful as is treacherous requiring proper and intense preparation.
We start our journey back to exit via Tulaga.
