The Summits of Batian: A Call to the Bold
For decades, the towering face of Batian Peak (5,199m) on Mount Kenya has captured the imagination of climbers around the world. But for the longest time, this summit was a distant dream for most Kenyans—more of a postcard legend than a personal possibility. That’s changing.

Our Batian Ready program has redefined the game.
We’ve trained, guided, and watched Kenyan climbers—men, women, fathers and sons—stand where only a few had stood before. And not just once. It’s happening season after season. The program isn’t just creating climbers—it’s awakening courage, building discipline, and proving that with the right mindset and preparation, Batian is within reach.
Now, we want to go a step further.
Introducing the Batian Hall of Fame
We’re building a living archive to honor everyone who has ever summited Batian, from the earliest ascents to the most recent ones. This will live permanently on the Hikemaniak website, recognizing the spirit, grit, and story behind each summit.
If you’ve climbed Batian—this is your call.
We’d love to feature your name, your route, and your journey among the legends.
Submit your details:
- Full Name
- Date of Summit
- Country of Origin
- Route Used (e.g., Normal Route, North Face Standard, etc.)
- Was it self-guided or did you use a guide?
- If guided, who was your guide? Kenyan or otherwise?
We’ll celebrate these stories publicly on our Hall of Fame page, with a curated profile of each climber and a growing timeline that shows how this peak is being reclaimed by local climbers—one summit at a time.
