Day 1: Naromoru Gate to Met Station Camp
Our journey begins at 7:00 am as we depart from Nairobi and drive to Naromoru Park Gate for registration, marking the starting point of our hike at 2600m. The trail follows the crest of a board ridge between the Northern and Southern Naromoru valleys, offering a pleasant walk through the forest. Two-thirds of the way up, breathtaking views of the Northern Naromoru valley await. The day concludes at Met Station (3,000m) where we camp for the night, enjoying a peaceful evening and a hearty dinner.
Day 2: Met Station Camp to Mackinders Camp
An early morning start leads us uphill past the radio mast, transitioning from the forest belt into the moorland after 30 minutes. The path traverses various bog conditions before reaching a fork overlooking Teleki Valley. Our destination is Mackinders Camp at 4,200m, where we camp overnight and relish a well-deserved dinner.
Day 3: Mackinders Camp to Point Lenana to Old Moses Camp
The adventure continues as we break camp at 3 am and ascend towards the main peaks. After crossing a flat marshy area known as Temple Fields, we push up to Point Lenana, the third-highest point in Kenya, arriving at 6:00 am to witness a breathtaking sunrise. We descend to Shipton Base Camp for a proper breakfast before continuing to Old Moses Camp for an overnight stay.
Day 4: Old Moses Camp to Nairobi
After a satisfying breakfast, our transfer vehicle picks us up for the drive back to Nairobi, concluding our remarkable Mt. Kenya expedition.
