Starting from Kimakia Forest Station, this journey will take you deep into the enchanting forest, crossing a scenic valley brimming with life. Along the way, you’ll be serenaded by a chorus of birds, as you immerse yourself in this rich ecosystem.
At the 3km mark, we’ll reach an open area where a recent landslide has transformed the landscape. Witness firsthand the forest’s vital role in preventing such natural disasters.
As we continue, you’ll be swept away by the magic of forest bathing. At the 10km point, we arrive at Kamachago Dam, a crucial water source for Kandara Sub-county.
The highlight awaits just ahead—the stunning Kamachago Waterfall. Here, take a moment to soak in the serene beauty of the falls and surrounded by towering trees. If you’re feeling adventurous, a dip in the cool waters will make this experience even more memorable. You might also catch a taste of freshly caught trout from the stream!
After savoring the tranquility of the waterfall pool, we head back to Kimakia Forest Station via a different route. This 4km return journey takes us through the Nyayo Tea Zone, across community lands, and back into the forest, offering panoramic views of rural Central Kenya. Enjoy the sight of tea and avocado estates as they dot the landscape.
