Kijabe Kiharu Trail

Our circuit starts from Gichiengo,Kijabe junction while traversing through Magina village down to the Kijabe section of Kinale forest. This creates a homely welcome to the area as your senses are aroused by backcountry smells and sounds as you enjoy the views of the Rift. The trek leads us to Kiharu one of the many hills of Kinale forest.

The ascend is steady and moderate which takes between 1hr to 1 and half to the top at an altitude of close to 2600m ASL to exit Soko Mjinga near fly over where our bus awaits.

Walking Duration: 5-6 hours
Terrain: Flat and hilly sections especially towards the end
Attractions Moderate: Natural forest and a scenic view of the Great Rift Valley and a rich history of the area

  • Comfortable running shoes or hiking boot
  • Hiking/gym pants (avoid jeans)
  • Polyester T-shirt (like the football jerseys) carry an extra one to change after the hike
  • Head-torch
  • A change of clothes after the hike and for your travel back to Nairobi
  • Sunglasses
  • Hat/cap

  • Drinking water (3litres)
  • Sunscreen (Arimis oK)
  • Heavy snack or picnic Lunch
