Mbooni Forest Explore Makueni is located in the East of Kenya. Mbooni hills have an estimated elevation above sea level of 1807M asl. You will easily notice the terraces around the hills near the localities Mweani and Nzeveni. The views? Breathtaking! Despite reports of deforestation which KFS has deal with in the past between 2000 and 2020, 85% of tree cover gain occurred outside of plantations which is go for regeneration of the natural forest..
The trail
Mbooni Forest Explore start at the forest station, from here we will trek through the forest and head up West towards the viewpoint where we can get a clear view to as far as Machakos town and Konza. At the top, the view is S.P.E.C.T.A.C.U.L.A.R. From here, everything seems to spread away from your very feet to boulder littered plains below. After amazing photos from this viewpoint, we shall have our packed lunch before heading down back to the forest station.

The Mbooni Forest Explore Trail is rated moderate and is therefore great for both beginners and seasoned hikers. The entire trek will take us around 6 hours. We look forward to having you on this one for a day of Fun, connection, and self-discovery.
