Delve into the heart of this wilderness, reaching the serene Mutamaiyu Camp nestled under giant African wild olive and Podocarpus trees by a tranquil stream, offering a night filled with calming white noise.
As the highest mountain in East Africa, Mount Elgon is a treasure trove of natural wonders. Traverse the majestic Kitum Caves, spanning over 160 meters, where elephants come for a unique salt lick experience.

Trek Itinerary
Day 1: Travel from Nairobi to Eldoret and transfer to Mt. Elgon National Park. Camp at the gate for the night.
Day 2: Chorlim Gate (2200m ASL – Mutamaiyu Camp 2800m ASl)
Distance: 12Km
Commence the hike at 12.30 pm, exploring the dense forest, Chesurur Waterfalls, and Endebess Bluff. Reach Mutamaiyu Camp for an overnight stay at 2800 M ASL.
Day 3: Mutamaiyu Camp (2800m ASl – Road End Camp 3500m ASl)
Distance: 18km
Exit the rainforest, embracing moorland vegetation. Spot diverse flora and fauna on the way to Road End Camp, where we spend the night.
Day 4: Road End Camp (3500m Asl – 4222m) – Koitobos (4221m ASl) and Mutamaiyu Camp (2800m ASl)
Distance: 24km
Embark on the summit push, marveling at volcanic rock formations and reaching Koitobos Peak at 4222 m ASL. Rest and overnight stay at Mutamaiyu Campsite.
Day 5: Mutamaiyu Camp (2800m ASL – Chorlim Gate 2200m ASL)
Distance: 12km
Trek down, exploring the salt lick for elephants, the oldest tree in Kenya, and Kitum Cave. Finish the hike at Chorlim Gate, with optional exploration of the caves.
Pick up the transfer vehicle to Kitale or Eldoret Airport for onward travel to Nairobi.
